Episode 5 - What Does it Mean to Obey God?

In this episode, we explore what it means to obey God's commands.  I share some lessons I've learned from Jonah as an adult and then wrap it up with the difference between legalistic obedience and obeying out of love and honor. 

Here's a recap of the five lessons about how to obey God that I learned from Jonah's story:

1- Follow directions the first time given.

2- God can still use us to reach people through our mistakes.

3- The Lord will provide.

4- Obedience brings blessings- but sometimes they are for other people - not us!

5- The outcome of our obedience is not up to us! We have to trust God with the outcome. (He does know more than we do. haha) 

Obedience is best when we are in a relationship-mutual love and respect. We can obey God from a place of honor, not obligation. This is the obedience that God desires from us. We don't have to be like the Pharisees and obey rules out of fear! Jesus came to free us from that bondage, so we can obey Him out of our immense gratitude! And when we do, God will use us in a mighty way for His Kingdom!
